2 April 2009: ICN
We've been adopted by a sister. Her name is Sister Honey Allee (in the yellow shirt). She is a single, middle-aged woman, and has a wonderful heart. She wants to involve us in everything. Her story includes a few years living in the USA, but instead of a warm welcome she was forced to figure things out on her own. She would see nothing of the sort for us. Her actions were almost heroic - dinners, local sites and sounds, conferences, etc...

One such experience was the International Council of Nursing preparatory meeting. [You can read about the ICN here. They had their 24th quadrennial congress in Durban after we left.] Snapshots: Ethekwini hospital. 40 people stuffed into a small planning room. All South African provinces represented, each "twinned" with another African country with a goal of gaining sponsors for the upcoming congress. Partnerships. Passion. 4 years in the making.

We wrote a short article for McCord's newsletter about our experience: ICN Article
